Update 2

Over the weekend we headedto Encampment WY about 60 miles south of Rawlins for the 49th annual Lumberjack Jamboree & Rodeo. It was a hick fest and I was getting plenty of stares for wearing my Boise State tee-shirt and Teva saddles. There was plenty of bud diesel and cowboy hats! We hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoys the pictures. Then we ate lunch in Saratoga at the J.W. Hughes restaurant, lots of cool history and a good view of the North Platte River, which flows north!

Update

Not much is going on with the Yates's since our camping trip. Last weekend we thrilled ourselves with a trip to Laramie to visit Walmart and eat at a good mexican place. Oh how our lives have changed. From having everything at our finger tips to driving 100 miles one way just to shop at Walmart. We think that this time will make us appreciate modern eminities when we move somewhere else. Harrison is getting along well. Yvonne is getting though some rough days at work, her facility is on a watch list to be inspected or surveyed. But overall a great learning experience when she moves on to her next building. Beau has applied for a position at the post office here in Rawlins, despite a nation wide hiring freeze the USPS has allowed for one carrier to be hired on. If he lands the gig then Harrison will be in day care/school full time. Beau is also finding the time and continuing to train for a full marathon come this October. We all look forward to another trip back to the treasure valley this fall. This weekend will be pretty low key for us. Then over the forth we are heading to Polson, MT to visit some friends. Should be a great time! We hope everyone is doing well. We love and miss you all.

More Camping Pictures

Included is the perfect camping meal, bear warning and Harrison cooking breakfast on the fire.

1st Camping Trip

All of us camped over the weekend in the Snowy Mnt Range 60 miles south of Rawlins. It was Harrison's first time camping. We had a great time building a fire, roasting marshmellows and making breakfast the next morning. We had a lot of fun getting out of town and enjoying the great outdoors. Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoys the pictures

Weekend Hiking Trip

Today on the way up to Casper we stopped and visited Independence Rock, a Wyoming state park about 60 miles from Rawlins. This rock, which is along the Oregon Trail, was used as a marker by emigrants, fur traders and settlers coming west from the Missouri river. This rock got it's name when travelers rested, half way of their 2000 mile trip, there in July 4th, 1841. We had fun climing up the face and walking around on the top, it got a little hairy coming down but we made it.

We spent the rest of the day shopping in Casper. Ate lunch at Old Chicago again. It was an overall great day! We hope everyone enjoys the pictures and had a great weekend!

Family Visits

After our trip to Boise we had Beau's mom here for a week. We toured the Rawlins museum which contains a lot of history of carbon county. We managed to build a 8x8 patio and a place to put our grill in our dirt back yard, yes dirt back yard. Here are a few before and after pictures. It's a definite improvement. It was good to have Nell here for a week.

Over the Memorial Day weekend we had Tim and Eileen come to visit. We got out and visited the town of Saratoga and made an all day trip to Casper were we shopped and had lunch.

We hope everyone has a great Memorial Day and remembers what this day is for. To remember the fallen hero's who fought for this great country and who have given us the freedoms we have today.

Marathon

Here are a few pictures of Beau competing in the Famous Potato half-marathon on May 16th, 2009. He finished in 2 hours 23 minutes and placed 654th out of 845 runners. Harrison got to run the last 50 yards or so with Dad. It was great!

We all traveled back to Boise and enjoyed being back home for a few days. It was good seeing everyone. We hope we are back home sooner rather then later.

Future PGA plans!

We all went to the local golf course today and hit some balls. Beau is thinking about forgetting the post office, tour the country and have Harrison as his caddy playing golf professionally. The weather was nice with sun but a little too much wind to get out and play 18, maybe next weekend.

First Day of School

Harrison started pre-school last week here in town. There is a church that has class for a few hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. He'll only be going through the month of May. He's really excited to get back with kids his own age. He has a very nice teacher and he looks forward to getting ready in the morning.
