Road Trip

Sunday we decided to venture south and see what else Wyoming has too offer. We drove to Saratoga, WY which is roughly 40 miles from Rawlins. There we visited a resort promptly named Saratoga Resort & Spa. A really great area including a nine hole golf course, hiking, mountain biking, hot springs, restaurant, microbrewery and areas to lounge around. It reminded us of Terrace Lakes but with more to offer. The resort is on the edge of the Snowy Mountain Range and the Medicine Bow National Forest. We're thinking about becoming members and visiting more often. To get into the mountains would just be another half hour drive from Saratoga. We plan on camping, fishing and hiking there once the weather shapes up. We're excited to know that this area has some trees and mountains to play around in.

Rawlins weather report: Today more snow and a steamy 20 degrees. We expect more of the white stuff and cold temps. Maybe things will thaw out come June or July!

We hope everyone has a great week, take care and we'll talk soon.

The race is on!

Beau has decided to participate in the Famous Potato half marathon Saturday May 16th in Boise. Only 7 weeks of training. Rawlins being almost 7000ft and hilly should be a good training platform for Beau to get ready in time. Yvonne plans on taking that Friday and Monday off so we'll be staying both Saturday and Sunday. So we'll will see everyone in Idaho soon!

Slip n' Slid

Here are a few pictures of Harrison cooking mom and dad breakfast this morning. Last night we made our first journey to Laramie to visit Walmart. The trip was about 100 miles one way. The roads were horrible, we were behind a fifth wheel and truck that almost slid off the road and into our lane as we were going 50 mph. Needless to say Beau's butt was puckered. We seen four cars in the ditch on the way back, one turned completely the wrong way and resting on it's roof! Interstate 80 closes on a regular basis due to blowing snow. We are expected to receive more snow late this weekend and into early next week. We are enjoying our first weekend out of boxes but still have more to organize. We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Is this South Dakota?

We arent sure if we landed in South Dakota by mistake. We woke up this morning with 8 new inches of snow on the ground. Not sure when the golf course is going to open up now, probably in a few months! Had Harrison outside helping clear off some of the snow. As expected most of Interstate 80 is closed today. The low tonight is estimated at 4 degrees with more snow on the way! At least we'll most likely have a white Christmas this year, I mean if it snows when it's almost April then it's gotta snow in December too!

House Pictures

Here are a few pictures the day of the movers unloading all our stuff. It took them only 3 1/2 hours to take our belonging from their truck and into our house. As you can see what a mess!

First Outing

Last Sunday we took a break from un-packing and drive south on HWY 71. The Teton Mountain Range is a 45 minute drive we were told. But as you can see in these pictures we were not able to make it far. The road was closed due to snow drifting across and blocking the road!

Moving Pictures

Here are a few pictures of us on the last moving day in Meridian. Just looking at those pictures seems so long ago, however it's only been a few days. Our lives are at full-speed now! Anyway...enjoy!

Day 2

Today is officially our second full day "living" in Rawlins, WY. That is if you consider living in the Hampton Inn a residence. Yesterday we had some issues with our rental house. The garage was full of old crap, no blinds on the windows and a few repairs here and there. The owner promptly drove up from Laramie and took care of us. As expected he is a cowboy and a though and though conservative. Overall good guy. So a few bumps in the road so far but nothing we cant handle.

Harrison and I are going to transfer all utilities today, go down to City Hall and get the house ready for the moving truck to arrive tomorrow morning. Both Yvonne and I are looking forward to having that part done with.

Still no position available at the Rawlins post office. I'll keep hope that I can transfer soon.

The weather in Rawlins is nice. Today in the low 60's with little wind. Tomorrow same. Looks like shorts weather if you ask me.

We found out that there is three pre-schools in town. We'll get Harrison going in a class once we get settled more.

We hope everyone has a good day, we'll talk soon!

We Arrived!

We arrived in Rawlins last night around 7pm, got checked into the room and hit the hot tube which felt great after a long drive. The animals made it okay although Lucy didnt stop meowing until 5 hours into the trip. Got up early this morning, got breakfast here at the hotel. We plan on signing the lease this morning. We cant wait to empty out the cars into the house since they are jam packed. Remind us to have a yard sale before we move again! We will upload more pictures as we get settled. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Enough

It's late and Yvonne and I have put the finishing touches on for the move tomorrow. Just a few more things to get organized tonight then a busy next couple of days. We plan on packing/loading tomorrow and Tuesday then get up early Wednesday morning and head out for Rawlins. We sign the lease for our new house Thursday morning (we will post pictures soon), Yvonne will be off to work with me and Harrison getting the house ready for our stuff coming. And when I say getting ready I'm talking about shoveling the driveway since their is plenty of snow still in Rawlins, isnt it mid March? We will start including pictures of our adventure soon. Hope everyone is well and we'll talk soon.

Movers Coming

A professional moving company by the name of A Arnold is arriving tomorrow, Monday March 16th to start packing our house! In the 5 to 6 times Yvonne and I have moved this is the first time we actually dont have to lift a finger....just supervise! What a deal!

The Big Move

Yvonne, Harrison and I are getting prepared for our big move out east to Rawlins Wyoming.
