Colorado Road Trip

We took a trip down to the Denver area last week for a Kindred Health Care conference. It was fun to get out of Rawlins and check out new areas. Harrison and Dad had fun touring the city and taking in the sights. Harrison even got a trip to Boondocks where he played games and won lots of tickets which he traded in for candy and prizes. We stayed at the Hampton Inn. We of course had to take advantage of their hot tub. The weather was fantastic, high 70's with sun. Harrison and Dad also went to a huge park with big play ground gear, and Harrison thought it was pretty cool to walk around the park's lake feeding ducks and geese along the way.

This weekend we went to Casper and did some shopping. As you can see Harrison got a new dump truck.

Well that's all for now. We'll post more pictures later. We hope everyone is doing well!

Weekend Exploration

A few pictures of our potential house. The back yard is nice and big. Not sure if this hot tub works that was left behind we we'll sure check.

Saturday we didnt do much at all, house work and that's about it. Another storm rolled through this area. But Sunday shaped up to be a great sunshine filled day. We drove southeast into the Medicine Bow National Forest, about an hour drive from Rawlins. As you can see highway 130 was still closed! After talking with the locals we found out that the snow doesnt disappear from we were until about Memorial Day. This is the area where we plan on camping, fishing and hiking this summer, but unless you have a snowmobile or snowshoes you arent getting very far! Dakota and Harrison enjoyed playing in the snow and getting out.

We make our first offer today on a house here in Rawlins. After looking at several we settled on a property that is on a corner lot, big back yard and close to parks. Wish us luck as we negotiate and hopefully make this our first bought home!

The Hunt is On!!

Harrison had fun hunting for eggs in the front yard. It was a very nice day weather wise, high 50's with sun.

We started our day house hunting with a few perspectives. We'll give everyone an update on the that when more materializes. Then came home had dinner and just plain ol' relaxed.

We hope everyone enjoyed their Easter day.

Take care and we will post again soon!

Easter Day 2009

A few pictures of us hanging out at home on Easter. Yvonne and Harrison enjoyed a nap while Dad went on a 3 mile jog on a new route around town. Overall a good day here in Rawlins.

These pictures might not show much but this in an important event for us here in Wyoming. Can you guess what it is by looking at the two pictures? Give up? We can actually see our front yard for once!! No snow!! Maybe the snow will stop and just be spring time full time, we'll see. Anyway not much happening with the Yates'. Since the picture on the front of the local paper Beau has tried to set up a few autograph sessions......no one has showed up yet! We drove to Laramie a few times, Doctor's visits and blood work. Driving to Laramie means getting to eat out and shop at Walmart, now that's a great time to us! Oh also we are viewing a few houses today with Century 21. We hope we can find a decent house. The real estate market has feel some in Rawlins but not like the rest of the country. We're thinking this area's housing market is similar to Billing's MT where you can still buy and sell houses. We hope we're not trying to catch a failing knife.

Anyway we plan on hiding some eggs for Harrison today and having dinner here at our house. We'll post more pictures later. Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!

Front Page!

After spring storms hammered Carbon County for much of Saturday, April 4, Beau Yates enjoyed the clearer day on Sunday, April 5 with a hike with his family up to the top of the Rawlins Uplift. (Rawlins Daily Times, Jerret Raffety.)

I made it on the front cover of the Rawlins Daily Times Newspaper. Above are the few pictures. I will have to save back a print copy to show everyone. I included the link above to the paper, you can navigate to find out more about the photo's. Anyway we thought this was pretty cool!

Hike to Rawlins Peak

We decided to get out of the house despite the cold temps today, high 20's, and explore more of this area. Rawlins peak is just to the west of our house. It rises to 7600 ft. It was great to get some fresh air and see the town from above. While hiking we ran into the photographer for the local newspaper, The Rawlins Daily Journal. He was taking some pictures for the Rawlins tourism guide. We all might appear in the newspaper here or in the official tourism guide. Pretty cool! If we do see ourselves we'll post those pictures as well.

Anyway we're supposed to get a break from the snow and cold weather. Next week might be in the 40's, that would be a nice change.

Also everyone take a look at a new website we are working on. We always wanted to do something for Jackson, maybe a fund or foundation. But for now we've created a site that will promote healthy living through exercise and to support other's on how to deal with the loss of a child. Or maybe we'll go in another direction, who knows of the possibilities!

On another note. Ryan and Krystal not only decided to stop smoking but participate in a St. Jude's running/walking event. We are very proud of both them! Good for them!

Let it snow

We woke this morning to another 3-4 inches of snow and imagine this, it's still snowing! We were planning on taking a trip further into the Snowy Mnt Range this weekend but it might be too...ummm.....snowy! If we're house bound then it will give us more time to put things away or just keep most belongings in boxes. We are going to take a look at buying a house here in Rawlins. Just dip our toes into the housing market and see what happens. We have decided to stay for a while here, 2-4 years maybe. Beau is looking at starting school in the summer for Nursing and wouldn't attentively graduate until the fall of 2012. Anyway we hope that everyone has had a good week and have even a better weekend. If we do get out and do something this weekend we'll post again.
